It was Gettysburg or letter c.  This took place at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania from July 1 to 3 1863 where Union forces under General George Meade defeated the forces of Confederate General Robert E. Lee.  Both sides suffered large casualties and it was during this time that the tide turned in favor of the Union.
