8x-2y=48

First substitute y for 4,

whi8ch gives you

8x-8=48

add 8 to both sides

8x=56

divide by 8 on both sides

x=7

8x-2y=48

8x-2(4)=48

8x-8=48


Cancel out 8. 8x=56


Isolate x. x=56/8

x=7
