Pride plays a part in the story of the Song of Rowland in the life of Roland himself. This is indicated in the fact that Roland is very prideful and that he believes in living an honourable life and that he fights to serve Christianity. At the end of Roland's life before he dies he feels as if all of the French soldiers that are dying is his fault and that he could have prevented the loss of life.
