People in Diagon Alley are delighted to see Harry because he is a walking, talking miracle. He survived a curse thought to be deadly to all, and that alone amazes people, but he is also the reason wizardkind isn't living in tyranny and  darkness. Everyone wants to meet Harry and shake his hand because he saved them, and they want to give him their thanks for keeping their world safe from Voldemort.
