Why would decaying logs in the woods not be an abiotic factor?

Abiotic factors include all the non living things present in the environment. Logs were part of a living tree and so it cannot be considered as an abiotic factor. Although the log is dead now, but it was part of a living thing before. I hope that this is the answer that has actually come to your desired help.
