The x-intercept of a line is (–2, 0) and the y-intercept is (0, 8). Given the standard form of the equation of the line, C is –8. What is the equation of the line in standard form?

y = mx + b
m = (8 - 0)/(0 - -2) = 8/2 = 4
y = 4x + b

substitute in set of coordinates:
0 = 4(-2) + b
0 = -8 + b
b = 8

y = 4x + 8
