and Length is 2 times the width. that is L= 2W

since there are 2 of the Length and Width sides..

42 = 2(L) +2(W)

42= 2(2W) + 2W

42 = 4W + 2W

42 = 6W

W = 42/6

W = 7

now that we know W plug it into our 1st equation

L = 2 (7)

L = 14

Length = 14

width = 7
