Well first you want to define the parts of the triangle. The second thing to do is learn to make a unit circle. The third thing to do is know the functions. The last thing to do is find the relationships.

 Learn SOH-CAH-TOA  (In right triangle)
SOH = sinQ = opposite/hypotenuse
CAH = cosQ = adjacent/ hypotenuse
TOA = tanQ = opposite/ adjacent
