What is inertia and how does it relate to Newton's first law of motion?

Answer:

inertia is basically the fact that something will continue moving until something else stops it.  take friction for example.  If you roll a ball on the ground, it will eventually stop because of friction, you can kind of think of it like a gear wheel.  and i guess it relates to newtons first law of motion because it is his first law?? i don't know how to answer that
