  • d - 8 = 3(s - 8)

  • d = s + 4

Simplify and substitute d into the first equation:

  • d - 8 = 3s - 24
  • d = 3s - 16
  • s + 4 = 3s - 16
  • 3s - s = 4 + 16
  • 2s = 20
  • s = 10

Find d:

  • d = 10 + 4 = 14
