The life in the chesapeake was harsh with disease plaguing many, a scarce amount of women and high death rate because most people died before reaching their 40’s and 50’s. In addition, indentured servants were migrants who in altercation for things such as transportation, tools or clothes were bound to unpaid service to a master for a fixed term.
