A society with slaves slaves are something that incidentally happened, they are an incidental part of the society. 
This type of society has several types of labor, including slaves.
A slave society on the other hand, is a society in which slavery stands at the center of politics, the economy, labor experiences, and social identities.
The difference between these two types of societies is how central the slavery in the society is.
