The basis of Mesopotamian economy was agriculture and trade. The main agricultural products grown were barley, wheat, legumes, olive trees, palm trees and vines.
Trade was very sparse and usually tranzaba with surplus grain and wool, and exchange through barter with stones (imported from Elam), wood (imported from Phoenicia) and metals (imported from Anatolia).
