The main social effect of the Chicago Race Riots was that is brought needed attention to racial conflict for those that were not directly involved. The whole nation was made aware of the extreme conflict, and the population was no longer indifferent. Every person had a position, and that was the start of a new period where legislation began to be reformed, as well as society's views (though the process would be slow and painful, and sadly, still is).
