3x-12=-2x+18 (distributive property)
Now add two x to both sides.

3(x - 4) = -2x + 18

Basically, you need to solve for x

3(x - 4) = -2x + 18
3x - 12 = -2x + 18
+2x        +2x

5x - 12 = 18
      +12   +12

5x = 30
x = 6

Answer: The value that makes this equation true would be 6.
