The common denominator is: 24 so the 1/6 renamed is: 4/24 and The 1/8 Renamed is: 3/24

The easiest way to find a common denominator is to multiply the two denominators. 6 x 8 = 48.  You have to mulitply the numerator as well as the denominator, of course.
